Detox: Toxin Removal

Toxin exposure in our daily life has become unavoidable, in large part to industrialization and widespread food processing. If you eat, breathe, or drink water, you are exposed to numerous toxins.

What are toxins?

Toxins come in many forms, including plastics (BPAs), phthalates, herbicides, pesticides, chemicals, molds, and heavy metals. Chronic toxin exposure occurs when there is repeated exposure to a toxic substance over an extended period of time. Some examples of chronic toxin exposure include daily use of toxin-containing personal care products (such as make-up, lotion, and shampoo), living in a home with mold, drinking tap water or filtered tap water, work environments that cause exposure to chemicals and/or radiation, repeated EMF and Wi-Fi exposure, and consuming processed and heavily preserved foods.

Natural Detoxification

God designed our bodies to be able to detoxify and heal in most circumstances, however, with continuous toxin exposure and a lack of nutrient dense foods to nourish our bodies and support healing, those natural detoxification pathways can become blocked or stagnant. When this occurs, toxins build up inside the body and can cause diffuse inflammation, leading to disease processes.

Exposure Symptoms

Common symptoms from chronic toxin exposure include low energy, headaches, poor sleep, gastrointestinal issues, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, body aches, mood disruptions, and chronic diseases. When this happens, the body needs assistance and support to restore balance and optimal functioning.

Detoxing and removing toxins requires a comprehensive approach.

Removing the chronic toxin exposure requires a thorough environmental assessment to determine where the exposure is coming from. Assessing water supply, living environment (home and work), diet, food sources, and product cleanliness is a great first step.
  1. Removing the chronic exposure
  2. Restoring and cleaning out the drainage pathways
  3. Supporting mitochondrial function
  4. Removing the toxins from inside the body and restoring the native terrain
We can help educate and equip you with the necessary tools to assess these areas. Collecting a urine sample for toxin testing can provide detailed information about where these exposures are coming from. Muscle testing or applied kinesiology can also be used to identify types of toxins present in the body and the toxin load.

Drainage Pathways

Toxins are excreted from the body through feces, urine, skin, and sweat. The colon, liver, bile ducts, spleen, and lymphatic system assist in toxin excretion. When any of these detoxification pathways become blocked, toxin levels can build up and become stored in the bloodstream, organs, and tissues. This can lead to inflammation, a myriad of symptoms, and disease. Therefore, the first step in detoxification is opening these drainage pathways to keep toxins moving out of the body.

Cell Function

Mitochondria are the power supply of every cell in the human body. The function of mitochondria is to turn on and provide energy to all our organ systems. Mitochondria play a role in energy levels, detoxification, food digestion, healing, and fighting illness and pathogens. Chronic toxin exposure can cause damage to mitochondria, inhibiting their ability to function. This is when symptoms start to become even more evident. Mitochondrial support during detoxification is imperative to healing.

Remove Stored Toxins

The final step is to remove stored toxins from the body and restore the internal terrain, so the body can return to proper functioning. At Flourish we choose to use detox protocols and products that are one-of-a-kind and are made to promote the body’s natural detoxification processes. These formulations are developed to work deeper in the organs and tissues, all the way to the cellular level, and have been clinically tested and proven effective. Binders play an integral role in removing stored toxins from the body, but they must contain unspent, long-, medium-, and short-chain carbons. This allows for maximum energy, maximum binding potential, and permeability beyond the gut to other areas of the body. Muscle testing can also be used to help determine an individualized detox protocol.
