At Flourish Medical + Wellness, we believe that an effective weight loss program needs to be tailored to each individual’s lifestyle, health, age, and hormone levels. Therefore, we offer a variety of weight loss options in order to provide optimal results for each individual patient.
Nearly seventy percent of people in the U.S. are overweight or obese. This leads to serious health conditions including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, hypertension, and sleep apnea. Maintaining a healthy weight is not just about the number on the scale or BMI. A healthy weight is key to a long, active, and healthy life.
What is weight loss?
Weight loss refers to the process of reducing one's body mass by shedding excess fat through a combination of dietary modifications, increased physical activity, and lifestyle changes. It is often pursued for various health and aesthetic reasons, such as improving overall well-being, managing chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, and enhancing self-confidence.
If you're concerned...
with being overweight, consider this: a healthy weight is not necessarily a specific number on the scale, but rather a range that is appropriate for an individual based on his/her age, gender, and other factors. Maintaining a healthy weight involves a combination of a healthy diet, regular physical activity, and other lifestyle behaviors.
Weight Loss Treatment Options
Weight loss is a topic we discuss with our patients daily. American food culture, our environment, availability of high calorie, low nutrient options, and our food industry have all contributed to the current weight gain problem in this country. Unfortunately, excessive body weight can significantly affect quality of life and increase the risk for numerous health conditions. Although we prefer to address weight loss in the most natural way possible, some people require, or prefer, an extra boost to get things moving in the right direction.
Semaglutide is a GLP (glucagon-like peptide)-1 agonist, once-weekly subcutaneous injection for weight loss. It works to enhance the growth of beta cells in the pancreas, which are sites of insulin production, and mimics the GLP-1 hormone released in the gut in response to eating.
High-dose Semaglutide has been studied in non-diabetic patients suffering from obesity. The New England Journal of Medicine's publication of the STEP Clinical Trial revealed that more than 50% of trial participants lost at least 15% of their body weight, and 33 - 40% of participants lost 20% of their body weight. Semaglutide delays gastric emptying by reducing glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. This delay in gastric emptying can reduce appetite, improve control of eating, and reduce food cravings, aiding in weight loss.
Sermoreline Glycine Injections
Sermoreline glycine injections have been shown to increase fat loss, increase lean muscle mass, accelerate healing, boost mood, and improve brain function.
Sermorelin is a peptide composed of 29 amino acids and is utilized to optimize growth hormone levels in adults by stimulating the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormone, without increasing prolactin levels. Sermorelin works to improve hormonal balance, enhance energy, burn fat, increase lean muscle, improve sleep quality, and enhance memory and sex drive, by stimulating the production and release of hormones by the pituitary.
Glycine is an amino acid that can also act as a neurotransmitter. Research has shown that it can also help to stimulate the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormone without increasing prolactin levels. When these two are coupled together, they work synergistically to maximize effectiveness. Sermorelin Glycine has also demonstrated anti-aging functions that include building collagen, reducing wrinkles, and improving skin elasticity, tone, and texture.
Tirzepatide is a once-weekly GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor and GLP-1 receptor agonist. GIP and GLP-1 receptors are found in the brain and are important for appetite regulation.
Tirzepatide works by activating these receptors, therefore decreasing food intake and modulating fat utilization. Some patients who do not respond well to Semaglutide treatment have reported improved weight loss results with Tirzepatide.
Lipo B Injections
Lipo B injection is a combination of B Vitamins and essential amino acids that exhibits lipotropic effects. These lipotropic effects facilitate the burning of adipose tissue. This compound supports the body’s natural functions to help reduce excess fat, boost metabolism, and increase energy. Lipo-B injections should be used in combination with diet and exercise weight loss plans.
- Methionine is one of the nine essential amino acids in the human body. As an essential amino acid, it cannot be synthesized from the beginning by the human body due to a lack of the required metabolic pathways needed for its synthesis. Therefore, methionine has to be exogenously introduced into the human body via diet or supplementation. Methionine supports the liver in processing fatty acids, lowers cholesterol, and prevents excess fat buildup. It also helps break down sugars and carbohydrates and converts them into energy. Methionine has also been found to enhance skin tone, elasticity, hair, and nail appearance.
- Inositol is a B vitamin that converts food into energy and aids in fat metabolism and cholesterol reduction. Inositol has also been shown to help with conditions such as depression, PCOS, and fatty liver disease.
- Choline is an essential nutrient that helps convert fat into energy, while enhancing neural communications and potentially increasing cognitive ability. Even though choline is produced endogenously in the liver, it is still considered an essential nutrient because the quantities produced are insufficient to meet the body’s metabolic needs. Therefore, dietary supplementation of choline is necessary. Choline has been found to improve muscle recovery time and is needed to maintain cell membrane integrity.
- B6 promotes red blood cell production and converts food into energy.
